First Knight
Colorful, but ultimately disappointing version of the King Arthur legend.
Jettisonned are all but the three main characters (Arthur, Guinevere, and
Lancelot), as well as most of the magic of the original story. What remains
is a standard action story (whose battle scenes have been outclasses by the
recent Braveheart), and a love triangle. The love triangle, the most
compelling aspect of the film, is unfortunately abruptly ended by a deus
ex machina which wrenches the life out of the legend and this film.
