Reminded me of a high budget ARMY OF DARKNESS. All silliness aside, let's talk about THE MUMMY. Oh wait, we can't. THE MUMMY was clearly an enjoyable film, but that's about all it was. |

AS FOR THE MAIN REVIEW ON THIS SITE, IT WAS NOT A NEW-FANGLED "MINDLESS ZOMBIE" PLAGUE, IT WAS THE ONE WHERE EVERYONE GOES STARK RAVING BONKERS AND GETS BOILS ETC. IT WAS ONE OF THE EGYPTIAN PLAGUES. | 07/12/99 01:19 AM | This movie itself is victim to most flaws of modern movies which is relying more on special effects and less on character and plot development. There is one bright shining star though, Brendan Fraser had a stellar performance in the movie. All movies up to this point, Fraser has played a whining mama's boy that you are more afraid to meet his Jewish mother than focusing on the character. His role in this movie, gave us a revitilaztion of a "man" in hollywood. One that has less regard for humans and more on overt machoism. With clint off saving the world we need Brendan in more roles like this!! |

I also think Brendan Fraser and the mummy are absolutely gorgeous!!! Perhaps someone could explain why there are 5 jars at the beginning but only 4 are found? Well, for me, the Arabian watcher made the film. And for any other Watcher fans his real name is Oded Fehr {details on this site!} Cool!!! The film was fab though and kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time! Even so though, without Oded, it wouldn't have been the same. He was GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!! | 10/07/99 05:39 PM | After the lackluster reviews, I was pleasantly surprised by The Mummy. As expected, the special effects were very cool, but the acting was quite good as well. Brendan Fraser as Rick O'Connell was great in the reluctant hero role, using both his knack for physical comedy and his rangy good looks to great advantage. He delivered the pre-requisite one-liners in the best action-hero tradition. John Hannah's likable but underacheiving Jonathan, with his easy charm, contrasted nicely with the rougher O'Connel, and Arnold Vosloo was oddly compelling as Imhotep, the Undead. Rachel Weisz was lovely as Evelyn, but I would have liked to have seen better dialog written for her. Overall an exciting and entertaining movie. |

I also think ODED FEHR is someone special ,good looking too,good enough to eat,ummmmmm ! This is a tribute to Egyptian history too,but I love Egypt, and anything to do with it.All I can say is nice one and thanks to all the people that made it. We need more films like this. |
