I just saw the Miramax English-language version as part of the Los Angeles International Film Festival, and I have to say I was mildly disappointed. It was beautifully drawn, and it was nice to see a story targeted a few grades above the usual Disney fare, but I really think Neil Gaiman dropped the ball on the adaptation. Some of the dialogue came off as just goofy at the most inopportune moments. The voice casting really didn't match up to the characters as scripted, either. I think I would have enjoyed the film more with original actors and subtitled.

Certainly you should all go see it, though.

12/22/99 10:36 PMI saw Princess Mononoke last year when my cousin brought over, and man it was great! I thought it was so good, I watched four times. Well, ok, I'm exagerating just a little, but hey, I would give four in a half stars. Man, I can't wait till it comes in theaters, oh, I got ta go, see ya.
