Roommates -

Heavily melodramatic comedy. Peter Falk plays an old man who rooms with his grandson, and watches him grow from a young boy to a medical doctor with a family of his own. The grandfather is crotchety, grumbling and irritable…and there are two fun-filled hours with him. As if that isn’t enough to get your hopes down…there is plenty of family tragedy to go around. The movie never really finds its heart…it just naturally assumes the audience will sympathize with the unsympathetic characters. D.B. Sweeney plays the grandson, and is mostly a spectator to Falk’s overflamboyant grandpa. Julianne Moore has a bit part as a love interest for Sweeney.
